Artist Statement:
My work is inspired by the deep, intricate connections between people and the environments they inhabit—the layered histories, physical landscapes, and symbolic meanings that a place holds. Growing up in New York, a region rich in both natural beauty and historical significance, I developed a profound appreciation for the stories that shape our surroundings. My paintings are a reflection of this fascination with the natural world and the vibrant life that fills it.
I am continually curious about the past—the stories that came before us—and the possibilities of what lies ahead. The remnants of history are woven into the fabric of the present and the future, creating a timeless dialogue between the two.
My training at Pratt Institute centered on traditional painting methods, including the grisaille technique used by the old masters to capture the figure in monochrome. By combining these classical techniques with contemporary approaches, my work bridges the past and present, illustrating the ongoing, intimate connection between humanity and the world around us
